What a South Laguna stay is like
The Mara and Woods Cove Inn sit in the Woods Cove stretch, where the Woods Cove neighborhood runs around a cove beach on the ocean side of Coast Highway. Casa Laguna stands a short walk from Victoria Beach, Montage above Treasure Island, and The Ranch in Aliso Canyon. The cards above give each property’s own description. Woods Cove and Victoria Beach
The Mara, at 1600, stands at the corner of Bluebird Canyon Drive, where the HIP District ends, about 0.1 mile north of Pearl Street and the Woods Cove beach. This page groups it with Woods Cove. Woods Cove Inn, at 2020, stands just south of Diamond Street and says it is one block from the shoreline. Farther south, past Moss Street, Casa Laguna’s site describes a hillside overlooking the Pacific and a short walk to Victoria Beach, with downtown about a mile north.
Treasure Island and Aliso Canyon
Montage, at 30801, sits above Treasure Island Beach, which its site describes as just beyond the resort, with beach service. The Ranch, at 31106, sits in Aliso Canyon. It is the only property here with a golf course, and its site says Aliso Beach is about 800 yards away, with a complimentary shuttle.
Getting around without a car
The city’s free Coastal Route trolley runs on Coast Highway through South Laguna to Mission Hospital and on to the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point. The city lists service every 20 to 30 minutes from September 8, 2026 to June 25, 2027. That is the non-summer schedule, and the city’s trolley page covers summer. Distances are longer here than downtown, so check where the nearest stop is for the property you pick. South Laguna is the southern end of Laguna Beach along Coast Highway, toward Dana Point. This site treats the stretch south of Rockledge Road as South Laguna, where the city's Laguna Local map starts its South Laguna stops. North of that line this page lists Woods Cove, around the cove beach between Pearl Street and Diamond Street, and Victoria Beach, where Casa Laguna stands.
Which South Laguna hotels are on the sand?
