What a resort means in Laguna Beach
Three properties combine a spa, restaurants and a pool on one site: Montage Laguna Beach and Surf & Sand Resort on the coast, and The Ranch at Laguna Beach inland in Aliso Canyon. Hotel Joaquin and Tides Laguna are smaller, and both call themselves resorts on their own sites, so they are listed here with that label.
All five have Coast Highway addresses. The cards give each property’s address and what its site says is on site.
Spa, golf and pools
Montage, The Ranch and Surf & Sand each list a spa. Montage’s site describes a 20,000-square-foot spa with steam rooms, saunas and a lap pool. The Ranch names the House of Hudson spa. Surf & Sand’s is Aquaterra.
Golf is the one thing only The Ranch offers: a nine-hole course set into the canyon walls, bookable by tee time. Pools range from Montage’s two pool decks to Surf & Sand’s beachfront pool and the heated pool at Hotel Joaquin. Tides Laguna has a saltwater pool.
Beach access
The resorts reach the sand in different ways. Surf & Sand sits on the shoreline. Montage’s site gives a four-minute walk to Treasure Island Beach, and The Ranch’s site says guests can take a trail or a free shuttle to Aliso Beach, 350 yards away. Hotel Joaquin keeps bicycles, bodyboards and beach games for guests to borrow. Tides Laguna sits within walking distance of Heisler Park and Main Beach, per its site.
Beach rules apply to resort guests too. Read the beach pages for dog, alcohol and hours rules at each one.
Resort fees and what to check first
Surf & Sand’s FAQ says a daily resort fee applies to each reservation, and The Ranch’s site also mentions resort fees. Rates and fees change, so confirm what is included on the resort’s own site before you book.
Getting around
Montage lists valet as its only on-site parking, and The Ranch runs a golf-cart shuttle to Coast Highway for guests, per its site. For how parking works in town and how to reach the village without driving, read the parking guide and the getting around guide.
