How dining works in the Village
The Village is downtown Laguna Beach. Its restaurants cluster on a handful of streets you can cover on foot: Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Broadway, Glenneyre Street and the first stretch of South Coast Highway. Main Beach sits at the west end of Broadway, so a meal here pairs easily with time on the sand. The Village neighborhood page describes the streets themselves.
On this site the Village takes in South Coast Highway from Main Beach south to Anita Street. Past Anita Street the highway belongs to the HIP District, which has its own restaurant page. Each card links the place’s own website or its page on lagunabeachhappyhour.com, a directory the same owner runs. The page prints no prices, hours or specials, since those change. Check the restaurant’s site or call before you go.
Forest Avenue
Four places stand on Forest Avenue: Brussels Bistro at 222, 230 Forest Avenue, Tango at 305 and Lumberyard at 384. One walk past these blocks covers Belgian, California, tapas and American menus.
Ocean Avenue
Hennessey’s Tavern, Piatti and Yuzu have addresses between 213 and 231 on Ocean Avenue, a short walk from the beach. Zinc Cafe & Market, at 350, is the cafe in this group and lists a brunch menu.
Broadway
Broadway is the street that ends at Main Beach. Carmelita’s (217), Romeo Cucina (249) and Nirvana by Chef Lindsay (303) all have Broadway addresses, which puts Mexican, Italian and American menus on one street.
Glenneyre Street and Beach Street
Broadway by Amar Santana (328) and Oto Sushi (370) are both on Glenneyre Street, one with crudo, pasta and steaks and the other with sushi. Laguna Feasts sits farther south on Glenneyre at 801. Rasta Taco is on Beach Street at 170, between the beach and Forest Avenue.
South Coast Highway
Nine places have South Coast Highway addresses between 188 and 907. Board & Brew is at 188 and Greeter’s Corner at 329. Finney’s Crafthouse is at 340, Larsen at 425 and Nick’s at 440. South of Nick’s is at 540 and The Cliff Restaurant at 577. Q Terrace is at 680 and Gu Ramen at 907, the southernmost address on this page, a short way north of Anita Street. For restaurants south of Anita Street, see the HIP District page.
Parking, the trolley and the walk
Park once, then walk. The parking guide explains the meters, lots and permits, and the getting around guide covers the trolley. The free Coastal Route trolley runs along Coast Highway through downtown, so you can leave the car farther out and ride in.
Before or after the meal
Galleries, Main Beach and Heisler Park are all close to these streets. The Art Walk page covers the gallery district, the one day in Laguna plan fits a meal into a full day, and the Main Beach page has beach details. For restaurants farther along the coast, see North Laguna, the HIP District and South Laguna.
Reservations and walk-ins
Rules differ from place to place, and most sites do not spell them out. Nick’s and South of Nick’s each take a limited number of online and phone reservations and keep part of the dining room open for walk-ins. 230 Forest Avenue takes limited reservations by phone only. For the rest, check the restaurant’s own site or call.
