How breakfast works in Laguna Beach

Morning places here fall into three groups: cafes and coffee houses, full restaurants that open early or add a weekend brunch, and neighborhood kitchens off the main strip. Brunch is named on this page only where the venue’s own site lists a brunch menu.

Cafes in The Village

The Village has the most places on this page. Zinc Cafe & Market is on Ocean Avenue and describes the Laguna Beach cafe as the first of its locations. Greeter’s Corner is on South Coast Highway, and Hennessey’s Tavern is on Ocean Avenue and lists breakfast beside its lunch and dinner menus. Farther south, in the HIP District, Laguna Coffee Company roasts in house and has a full breakfast menu rather than just pastries.

Brunch menus

Four places list brunch: Las Brisas and Mozambique say weekend brunch, and Q Terrace and Zinc have brunch menus on their sites. Las Brisas has a dining room and a seaside patio above the coast, and Mozambique, in Woods Cove, has a rooftop veranda with an ocean view. Q Terrace’s menu runs from Eastern European classics to pasta and seafood.

North Laguna and the canyon

Chelas Mexican Kitchen is on North Coast Highway and serves breakfast burritos and a breakfast section it marks as all day. Kitchen in the Canyon sits on Laguna Canyon Road and has served breakfast and lunch since 2017. It added a Mexican dinner menu more recently.

What the morning menus include

A few dishes from the current menus: Zinc’s brunch menu has a smoked salmon Benedict, huevos rancheros, omelets, a chilaquiles bowl and housemade granola. Laguna Coffee Company’s menu has bagels, toast, overnight oats, yogurt parfaits and an avocado and egg option on an almond-flour tortilla. Chelas builds a breakfast burrito from scrambled eggs, bacon, steak, hash browns, guacamole and cheese. Las Brisas describes a plated breakfast menu that runs from sweet to savory. Menus change, so treat these as examples and check the venue’s own site.

Seating

Zinc and Greeter’s Corner both list patio seating, and Hennessey’s offers indoor and outdoor dining. For ocean views at a table, see oceanfront restaurants.
