What counts as a kids’ menu here

A restaurant is listed only if its own website posts a kids’ menu, a kids’ section or kids meals. The page does not rank places or say which one suits a particular child. Prices and hours are left off because they change; open each restaurant’s link for the current menu.

Three sites that state an age

Lumberyard marks its menu for children under 12. 230 Forest Avenue labels its kids’ menu 12 and under, and Romeo Cucina’s Menu del Bambino is for children 12 and younger. The other eight sites show a menu or section without an age, so ask the restaurant if it matters for your table.

The Village

Five of the eleven are in the Village. 230 Forest Avenue, Brussels Bistro and Lumberyard are on or off Forest Avenue, Romeo Cucina is on Broadway, and Q Terrace is on South Coast Highway. On Forest Avenue, Brussels Bistro’s kids’ list runs from butter pasta and pasta marinara to chicken tenders, a meatball plate and mac and cheese. Q Terrace’s Kids Menu lists mac and cheese, chicken nuggets with fries, butter pasta and a grilled cheese sandwich. Breakfast and lunch

Kitchen in the Canyon, on Laguna Canyon Road, lists breakfast and lunch all day, and its kids’ section starts with eggs. Chelas on North Coast Highway serves breakfast all day, per its menu, as well as the kids’ section. For more morning options, see breakfast and brunch.

Mexican, Italian and fish tacos

Chelas, Coyote Grill and Wahoo’s all serve tacos: Chelas lists tacos, burritos and all-day breakfast, Coyote Grill is Baja-style Mexican and Wahoo’s is a counter-service fish-taco restaurant. Romeo Cucina’s kids’ menu has pasta and a small pizza, and Lumberyard’s has pasta shells and chicken fingers. The casual eats and Italian and pizza pages add other places that are not on this list.

South of downtown

Coyote Grill and Starfish are in South Laguna, and Mozambique is in Woods Cove, where the site describes South African-inspired cooking. Wahoo’s is in the HIP District on South Coast Highway. If the day started at a beach, the with children page lists what else to fit around lunch.
