Three kinds of seafood in town

Laguna Beach seafood falls into three groups. Raw bars and oyster menus sit in the dining rooms around Forest Avenue and Glenneyre Street, with Broadway by Amar Santana and 230 Forest Avenue among them, and Sapphire carries oysters farther down South Coast Highway. Two rooms look straight over the water: The Cliff Restaurant and Las Brisas. Casual fish spots such as Wahoo’s and the beach cafe at Lost Pier keep the menu to tacos, bowls and fish and chips.

Where the dining rooms are

Most of the places here are in the Village, the downtown area around Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue and Glenneyre Street, with The Cliff Restaurant, Q Terrace and South of Nick’s on South Coast Highway nearby. Past Anita Street, Sapphire and Wahoo’s are in the HIP District. Las Brisas is on Cliff Drive in North Laguna. Lost Pier Cafe is on Coast Highway in South Laguna, the only entry on this page at that end of town.

Choosing by setting

If the view is the point, read the oceanfront restaurants page and the sunset spots guide together. The Cliff Restaurant sets its patio on several levels, and Las Brisas has a seaside patio and a panoramic dining room. If you want seafood in a Mexican menu, South of Nick’s and Las Brisas both carry it; the Mexican food page lists the rest. For raw fish served as sushi, see sushi and Japanese.

Reservations

South of Nick’s says it takes a limited number of online and phone reservations each day and keeps part of the dining room for walk-ins. Las Brisas, Broadway by Amar Santana, 230 Forest Avenue and Sapphire link reservation pages from their sites, and The Cliff Restaurant runs an online waitlist. For the counter places, walk in or call. Hours are not printed here because they change.

Parking and the trolley

Downtown, parking is metered street spaces and city lots; the parking guide explains how they work. South of Nick’s lists valet parking. The free Coastal Route trolley runs along Coast Highway from North Laguna through downtown to South Laguna, so it passes the South Coast Highway addresses on this page. The getting around guide lists routes and seasonal changes.
