The main shopping areas
Visit Laguna Beach names three shopping areas: the downtown Village, the HIP district and North Laguna. It also says the town has nearly a hundred boutiques, spread from the north end of town to the southern tip of Pacific Coast Highway.
Downtown Village
The Village is the downtown core, with galleries and restaurants a few blocks from Main Beach. The city says the downtown restaurant and shopping areas are a short walk from the beach. On Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, a farmers’ market sets up at Lot 12, 521 Forest Avenue.
Galleries sit among the Village shops. See the art galleries guide, and time a visit for the First Thursdays Art Walk if you want galleries open in the evening.
HIP district on South Coast Highway
The HIP district takes its name from Historic and Interesting Places. Visit Laguna Beach describes it as a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway between Anita Street and Bluebird Canyon. Its listing counts apparel shops, 26 art galleries, 17 restaurants, several coffee shops, a bookstore, florists, jewelry and consignment shops, a nursery with home decor, and spas. For nearby beaches and the rest of the coast south of the Village, see South Laguna.
North Laguna
Visit Laguna Beach lists North Laguna as the third shopping area. North Laguna lies along North Coast Highway and Cliff Drive, and the free Coastal Route trolley stops at North Laguna and Heisler Park on its way downtown.
Laguna Canyon Road
Laguna Canyon Road holds art venues. The Festival of Arts grounds stand at 650, Art-A-Fair at 777 and the Sawdust Art Festival at 935, and Laguna College of Art + Design is at 2222. The Hive, at 775 to 859, holds eight of the town’s murals. For festival dates and tickets, use the events guide.
Parking and the trolley
Visit Laguna Beach lists metered parking along Pacific Coast Highway, metered lots in the downtown Village and all-day paid parking at Lot 11. Meters and pay stations take cards, and you can pay in the Laguna Beach Parking App. The parking guide covers lots, enforcement hours and the resident Shopper permit.
The Coastal Route trolley is free and runs along Coast Highway between North Laguna, downtown and South Laguna. Its off-season schedule runs from September 8, 2026 to June 25, 2027. On weekends you can park at Lot 16 on Laguna Canyon Road for $5 and ride the Canyon Route trolley downtown. Hours are in getting around.
Timing a shopping trip
Two dated events fit around shop hours. The farmers’ market runs Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon at Lot 12. The First Thursdays Art Walk runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, according to Visit Laguna Beach, with a free trolley linking member galleries that evening. Shop hours vary by business, so read the sign on the door or the shop’s own site before you go.
Murals between stops
Visit Laguna Beach’s mural guide lists six murals downtown, including 477 Forest Avenue and 311 Ocean Avenue, five in a group it labels South Laguna, including one on Cress Street, one at St. Ann’s Beach and one at 30801 South Coast Highway, and eight at The Hive on Laguna Canyon Road. They make a short walk or a reason to stop between shops. The public art guide covers them.
Weekend and summer options
Outside summer, on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Canyon Route trolley runs downtown every 30 minutes from Lot 16 at 1900 Laguna Canyon Road, where parking is $5. Lot 16 is closed to the public Monday through Friday. In summer the city runs a Summer Breeze loop from a free lot at 16355 Laguna Canyon Road in Irvine, every 30 minutes, with stops at the art festivals and downtown. The city lists its season as May 22 to September 6.

These shops list a Laguna Beach address on their own sites:
