Summer camps and youth programs in Laguna Beach

Six organizations in Laguna Beach run camps or programs for young people: the city, its Marine Safety lifeguards, a museum, two ocean nonprofits and the Boys & Girls Club. Each posts its own dates and prices, so this page says what each listed on October 28, 2026.

How to read this page

Camps in Laguna Beach come from several operators, and each one sets its own ages, dates and prices. This page names the operators, says what each one’s site listed on October 28, 2026, and links to the pages that hold the current details. The city’s Junior Lifeguard page, for example, opened resident registration in December 2025 for the 2026 season, so check each site well before June. Any 2026 date on this page is that season’s schedule, not a promise about 2027.

City of Laguna Beach Recreation Division

The Recreation Division works from the Community & Susi Q Center at 380 Third Street and the Community & Recreation Center at 30516 South Coast Highway, and its team helps with class and camp registration. The city’s news update for the week of July 20 to 25, 2026 said summer camps still had openings and named Beach Camp Laguna, Freddy Running Club and LEGO Engineering, plus new Pickleball, Wildlife Biology and Spanish programs.

In October 2026 the online catalog’s children’s section listed Skyhawks at $109 to $119 and Youth Functional Fitness Fundamentals at $100, along with children’s art, gymnastics and dance. The city adds a 2.6 percent convenience fee to credit card payments. For students enrolled in the Laguna Beach Unified School District, the city says need-based scholarships are available through SchoolPower. The recreation centers guide explains registration, and the art classes page covers the city’s art sessions.

Junior Lifeguards

The city’s Marine Safety department runs Junior Lifeguards for ages 8 to 15 in two summer sessions, with a swim test for new participants. It posted $380 for residents and $405 for non-residents in 2026. Everything else, including the swim test times and registration dates, is on the Junior Lifeguards page.

Laguna Art Museum

The museum’s LAM Kids program ran summer day camps on Mondays in 2026, when the museum is closed to the public. The page lists ages 5 to 13, hours of 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., groups for kindergarten through third grade and fourth through eighth grade, and themed Mondays from June 15 to August 17, with no camp on July 6 and the July 27 camp marked canceled. Cost was $105 for members and $130 for non-members, or $95 for members and $110 for non-members when two or more siblings attend. The museum’s home page also listed a LAM Kids! Studio session on October 24, 2026, which has passed. See the museum page for visiting details.

Laguna Ocean Foundation

The foundation lists an ocean-centered K-12 program with classroom visits, field learning at estuary and intertidal sites in Laguna Beach and mentored projects. It also offers community projects for parent groups, scouting organizations, youth groups and clubs. Groups can ask the foundation for its complete list of activities, and the page posts no prices. Its Youth Ambassador Program is for middle and high school students who bring ocean conservation into their schools and communities, and its Emerging Leaders program gives funding and mentorship to people from early youth through early career who want to protect the planet. Neither page lists dates or costs. The foundation’s free educators at the tide pools are covered under tide pools and things to do with children.

Pacific Marine Mammal Center

When read on October 28, 2026, the center’s summer programs page said its on-site summer programs were canceled because the facility was in the final phase of completion. It listed Camp Pinniped (ages 8 to 12, 24 campers per session) and a Marine Mammal Rehabilitation & Research Lab (ages 15 to 17) as canceled due to construction delays, and pointed to virtual and off-site programs. Its school programs, Marine Mammals on the Move and Whales on Wheels, are taught off-site at the school. The visitor yard is described on the center’s page.

Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach

The club’s site lists early childhood programs, an after-school program, the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), and seasonal camps for fall break, winter and mid-winter break, spring break and summer, plus specialty summer camps. Middle school programs are called The Loft and The CLUB. The Canyon Branch is at 1085 Laguna Canyon Road, where the Tween Center and Teen Center also sit, and the Bluebird Branch is at 1470 Temple Terrace. The site lists no age range, dates or fees. Registration goes through an online portal, and the club’s phone is (949) 494-2535.

College pre-college courses and the stage

LCAD’s summer 2026 pre-college program ran July 6 to 30, Monday to Thursday, with five courses that can earn college credit and tuition of $1,200. See Laguna College of Art + Design. Laguna Playhouse also runs a youth conservatory, workshops and camps, described on the children’s activities page and under performing arts.
