How a venue wedding differs from a beach permit

A beach or park wedding runs on the city’s permit. It gives you a two-hour slot on a public site with a short rule list, covered on the beach weddings page: no chairs or arches, no amplified sound, no alcohol. The site stays open to everyone.

A venue is a private rental or a hotel’s event space. The venue sets its own hours, catering rules and music limits, and you deal with its events team, not the city. Prices for most venues below are given on request, so this page does not list any. Ask each one what its rate covers, and read its site for limits such as the music end time at Laguna Art Museum.

Resorts and hotels

Each hotel here describes weddings on its own site.

  • Montage Laguna Beach lists three lawns, an outdoor courtyard, two ballrooms and a foyer. Its site gives up to 250 guests for the Ocean Lawn and up to 800 for the Grand Ballroom, and adds a sample weekend schedule with spa and golf.
  • Surf & Sand Resort lists the Pacific Terrace, Catalina Terrace, Laguna Ballroom, Beachcomber, Bluebird Beach room and a Pool Deck. The Pool Deck is for full-property buyouts only, per its site.
  • The Ranch at Laguna Beach lists the Sage Ballroom, Sage Patio and The Grove, plus fairways and lawns. Its site names ceremonies, vow renewals, rehearsal dinners and brunches, with wedding venue specialists and on-site bridal hair services.
  • Casa Loma Beach Hotel offers the Pacific Terrace, a fourth-floor rooftop above Main Beach, for up to 80 guests, and group rates on its 70 rooms.
  • La Casa del Camino lists a 1,625-square-foot wedding venue with an ocean overlook for up to 120 guests, a rooftop and the Cress Room for getting ready or brunch.
  • Hotel Joaquin lists outdoor event space for up to 45 guests and four spaces (courtyard, pool, living room and deck), with an on-site event coordinator.
  • The Mara Laguna Beach hosts wedding weekends as a room block or a full-property buyout. Its site gives no capacities.
  • Arabella Laguna Guest Cottages lists a garden courtyard for 75 to 100 guests and a Verandah great room with a kitchen, and can sleep up to 24 guests. Its wedding page carries a 2018 copyright, so confirm current terms.

For rooms, see resorts, oceanfront hotels and inns and boutique hotels.

Museum and clubhouse

  • Laguna Art Museum rents its galleries for wedding receptions, up to 350 people, with 120 seated at rounds in the largest gallery. Rentals run 4 to 8 hours, the museum keeps a preferred caterer list and music must end by 10 pm. As of October 2026 it lists a refundable deposit of $2,000. See the museum page.
  • Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach, at 286 St Ann’s Drive, describes a Craftsman clubhouse with an entry patio, a double-height great room and an ocean-view terrace, and says it can host wedding receptions. Rental rates are on the club’s own page.

City-owned sites

The city’s indoor chapel at the Community & Recreation Center, 30516 S Coast Hwy, holds ceremonies of up to 50 people. As of October 2026 the fiscal 2026-27 permit is $788 for two hours, with a $200 refundable deposit, and the city lists Fridays after 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays after 3:00 p.m., ending by 8:00 p.m. Receptions are not allowed, and nothing may be set up outside. The application requires a certificate of insurance and asks for 14 days’ notice. Call 949-715-8620.

The City Clerk marries couples outside City Hall by appointment. The fee is $100 as of October 2026, per the city, and you need a California marriage license. Details are on the beach weddings page.

The city does not rent its parks or barbecue areas for events, and its Council Chambers are not available for parties or receptions. Outdoor ceremonies use the permit.

Getting there

Guests will need parking or a trolley ride. See the parking guide and the getting around guide, and ask each venue what it says about guest parking.

Questions

Where can you get married indoors in Laguna Beach?

The city rents its Community & Recreation Center chapel for ceremonies of up to 50 people, per its wedding permits page. Several hotels, a museum and a clubhouse list wedding spaces on their own sites.

Does Laguna Beach rent its parks for weddings?

No. The city says it does not reserve or rent parks for events. A wedding in a park or on a beach uses the city's wedding permit instead, covered on the beach weddings page.

Can you hold a reception at the city chapel?

No. The city's chapel permit does not allow receptions, and no setup is allowed outside the chapel.

Do Laguna Beach wedding venues post prices?

Mostly not. Of the ten venues here, most ask you to request a proposal or call. The Woman's Club lists rental rates on its own page.
