What Fête de la Musique is
Fête de la Musique is a music festival held every year in more than 1,000 cities in 100 countries, according to Laguna Beach Sister Cities, the local nonprofit that presents it. The organizer says it celebrates the start of summer. Its 2027 application form describes the festival as established by the French Ministry of Culture in 1982 and says performing artists volunteer their time and talent. Laguna Beach holds its version on a Saturday in June, and the 2027 festival is the 20th annual.
2027 date and times
The organizer lists the 2027 festival for Saturday, June 19, 2027, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The opening ceremony is at 1 p.m. at Main Beach. The organizer had not posted a 2027 performer list or location map as of October 28, 2026, so the layout below comes from the 2026 program.
How the 2026 day was laid out
The 2026 festival was on Saturday, June 20, with the same hours. The organizer’s program flyer split the day into two parts.
- Main Beach stage. A jazz band started at 11 a.m.; the program table names it as the Laguna Community Jazz Band, playing until 1 p.m. The opening ceremony was at 1 p.m., and bands and entertainment ran from 1:20 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Downtown streets. Live music ran from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 32 locations. The program’s map and table placed performers at Main Beach, at galleries and shops along South Coast Highway, on Forest Avenue, Ocean Avenue and Glenneyre Street, and at City Hall and the Water District Garden.
The 2026 table also listed a Sister Cities raffle announcement on the Main Beach stage at 3:30 p.m. The flyer carried a notice that entry and attendance imply consent to be photographed or videotaped and to have those photos published.
Treat the 2026 layout as a pattern, not a promise. The organizer sets each year’s locations and performers, and it posts them in a program closer to the date.
Past years
The organizer’s page keeps galleries for earlier years, listed as 2022, 2020 and 2019. The organizer’s application form calls the 2027 festival the 20th annual.
Getting there
The Main Beach page covers access, parking and facilities, and the parking guide lists the downtown lots. The city’s trolley page lists off-season routes through June 25, 2027, which includes June 19. On Saturdays the Coastal Route runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., every 20 to 30 minutes, and the Canyon Route runs from Lot 16 on weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The city can post a different schedule closer to the date, so check its trolley page. The getting around guide explains the routes.
Admission
The organizer’s Fête de la Musique pages state no ticket or admission price. Laguna Beach Sister Cities lists a phone number, (949) 715-7241, on its site. The free concerts page covers the city’s own concert series, which are separate programs.
Performing
The organizer posts a 2027 performing artist application form. It asks for the artist’s or group’s name, whether the act is a soloist or an ensemble, and the style of music. The form states that all performing artists volunteer, that no compensation is provided, and that a parent or guardian must authorize any minor. The organizer’s site links the form.
Around the date
The June guide covers weather, daylight hours and what else is on that month. The performing arts guide covers the town’s year-round stages.
